Vme TV Uses Generative AI to Spotlight Hispanic Heroes of the American Revolution

As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, Vme TV is unveiling a largely forgotten chapter of the nation's founding with Aliados por la Libertad, a new original short-form series that employs generative AI to recreate the Hispanic and Spanish figures who contributed to American independence. The Spanish-language series premiered September 15 for Hispanic Heritage Month on Vme TV and across the network's digital platforms, including YouTube and social media.

Each episode transports viewers from the battlefields of the Gulf Coast and the streets of colonial New Orleans to Havana, Bilbao, and across the Atlantic, revealing a side of the fight for American independence rarely seen on screen. Among the stories featured are Bernardo de Gálvez, the Spanish governor of Louisiana whose military campaigns at Baton Rouge, Mobile, and Pensacola denied Britain a southern front against the colonies; Juan de Miralles, the Cuban-born merchant who served as Spain's informal envoy to the Continental Congress and died in George Washington's headquarters at Morristown, N.J., in 1780; and Diego de Gardoqui, the Basque merchant who covertly shipped arms and supplies to the Continental Army while Spain was still officially neutral.

The series also highlights Francisco de Miranda, the Venezuelan-born officer who fought at the Siege of Pensacola in 1781 before championing Latin American independence, and Jorge Farragut, the Spanish-born sailor who joined the American cause, fought at the Siege of Charleston and the Battle of Cowpens, and became the father of the first admiral in U.S. Navy history. A new episode currently in production features Felicitas de Saint-Maxent, the New Orleans-born Creole whose marriage to Gálvez connected the Spanish governor to the influential local society on which his Gulf Coast campaigns depended.

"Aliados por la Libertad is really about looking at a story we think we know and discovering who has been missing from it," said Michael Fernández, Vice President of Marketing and People at Vme Media. "Hispanic history isn't separate from American history. These stories show just how deeply the two have been connected from the beginning."

With much of this history surviving primarily through portraits, paintings, maps, and documents, Vme turned to generative AI to visualize a world largely preserved through static historical records. The technology allowed the creative team to build an 18th-century visual world spanning colonial New Orleans, Havana, Bilbao, the Atlantic, and the battlefields of the Gulf Coast—all grounded in documented historical research and constructed shot by shot under human creative direction. For Vme, the technology serves the story—not the other way around.

"The technology had to disappear into the story," Fernández said. "We don't want someone watching an episode and thinking about AI. We want them wondering why they never heard this story before."

The series represents a significant economic and cultural opportunity for Texas and the broader Hispanic market. By leveraging generative AI, Vme TV demonstrates how emerging technologies can be harnessed to produce educational content at a fraction of traditional production costs, potentially opening doors for other media companies to explore similar approaches. This could lead to job creation in AI and digital media sectors, particularly in Texas, which has a growing tech and creative economy. Moreover, by highlighting Hispanic contributions to American history, the series fosters a more inclusive narrative that can strengthen community ties and inspire future generations.

New episodes will continue to join the series throughout the remainder of 2026 and into 2027. For more information, visit www.vmetv.com or follow the network on Facebook and X at @vmetv. The series is distributed by NOTICIAS NEWSWIRE.
