HCN Global and Society for Health Communication Launch New Webinar Series to Tackle Health Inequities

HCN Global is expanding its Leadership for a Culture of Health webinar series with a new partnership with the Society for Health Communication (SHC), targeting systemic barriers in preventive care and maternal health. The second series, announced August 21, 2026, builds on the initial installment that focused on structural racism and health, and will now address access to preventive care and maternal and reproductive health, with an emphasis on chronic stress and mental health impacts.

The webinars are designed for health communicators, community leaders, and advocates, offering practical frameworks and real-world examples to help communities navigate systemic barriers. The first session, 'Preventive Care & Healthcare Navigation,' is scheduled for August 28, 2026, and will explore how factors like health coverage, language access, transportation, and immigration concerns affect access to care. Registration is available at Zoom registration.

The second session, 'Maternal & Reproductive Health,' is set for November 2026, focusing on disparities in outcomes for Black and Latina mothers and infants, with details to be announced. Both sessions are free and will be recorded for on-demand access.

The partnership leverages HCN Global's expertise in culturally grounded communications and SHC's national network, extending reach through partner networks like La Red Hispana, Melanin Thriving, and LatinEQUIS. Resources will be available on dedicated webpages, including LatinEQUIS and Melanin Thriving, with Spanish-language resources at La Red Hispana.

Alison Rodden, CEO of HCN Global, emphasized the importance of providing tools and confidence to community leaders, while Dana Chomenko, Executive Director of SHC, highlighted the role of health communicators in closing gaps. This initiative is part of HCN Global's broader Culture of Health / la Cultura de Salud program, which addresses social determinants of health affecting Latino and Black communities, and aims to turn awareness into action for health equity.
