Heliostar Metals Ltd (TSXV: HSTR) has reported second-quarter results that bolster its financial position, according to an update from Stonegate Capital Partners. The company achieved record gold production and a record cash balance, strengthening its ability to fund the development of its flagship Ana Paula project. The update highlights improved forward visibility through near-mine reserve growth and the potential upside from Ana Paula's Expansion Zone.
In Q2, gold production increased 26% quarter-over-quarter to a record 14,803 ounces, driving revenue to $56.5 million. Mine operating earnings reached $31.1 million, and cash balances grew to $43.0 million, even after an initial $10 million payment related to the Goldstrike acquisition. This financial performance was underpinned by steady-state production at the San Agustin mine and continued low-cost production at La Colorada. These operations provide a solid cash-flow foundation that supports Heliostar's development pipeline, notably the Ana Paula project.
Despite the record production, net income declined quarter-over-quarter. Stonegate attributes this to the annual option grant, higher taxes, and foreign exchange effects, rather than weaker mine performance. This distinction is important for investors, as it clarifies that the operational momentum remains intact.
Ana Paula is positioned as the principal step-change growth project for Heliostar. The Feasibility Study is targeted for the second quarter of 2027, with the underground permit submission expected in the third quarter and first gold production targeted before the end of 2028. The Expansion Zone at Ana Paula offers additional upside beyond the current development case. However, permitting and project financing remain the key variables to watch.
In addition to Ana Paula, Heliostar's acquisition of the Goldstrike project adds 1.065 million ounces of attributable gold resources and emerging antimony optionality. Surface work at Goldstrike has confirmed mineralization at Antimony Ridge and identified a new target, Antimony Knoll, located 1.7 kilometers west. An initial drilling program of approximately 1,500 meters is underway, with results expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. Goldstrike broadens Heliostar's longer-term pipeline, though the remaining staged purchase consideration should be consistently reflected in valuation.
Key markers for Heliostar going forward include reserve conversion at its existing operations, execution at the Veta Madre vein system, and the permitting progress at Ana Paula. The company's ability to convert resources to reserves will enhance visibility beyond 2026, while successful execution on these fronts could unlock significant value.
