Blue Faery Brings Free Liver Cancer Education Event to Chicago, Highlighting Critical Need for Awareness

Blue Faery: The Adrienne Wilson Liver Cancer Association is bringing its free, in-person HCC Lunch & Learn to Chicago on October 24, 2026, aiming to equip patients, caregivers, and individuals at risk for liver cancer with essential knowledge about liver health, liver disease, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The event, developed in collaboration with liver cancer experts, will run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the University of Chicago Medicine in the Knapp Center for Biomedical Discovery Auditorium.

Hepatocellular carcinoma is the most common form of primary liver cancer, and many of its major risk factors are tied to chronic liver disease. Increasing awareness of those risks and helping people understand when screening and specialized care may be needed are critical to improving outcomes. The Lunch & Learn will address these gaps by covering liver disease and HCC risk factors and symptoms, prevention and early detection, current treatment options, the importance of multidisciplinary care, and resources and support for patients and caregivers.

"Knowledge can change outcomes—everyone deserves clear, trusted information and support when facing liver cancer," said Andrea Wilson Woods, Founder and President of Blue Faery. That philosophy drives the organization's mission to prevent, treat, and cure primary liver cancer through education, advocacy, and support.

The event is free and includes a catered lunch and complimentary parking with validation. Attendees must bring their parking ticket inside for validation, be at least 16 years old, and register separately. Space is limited, and advance registration is encouraged. Those interested can register and find more details at https://www.bluefaery.org/hcc-lunch-learn.

For those unable to attend in person, Blue Faery also hosts an online Liver Cancer Community for patients and caregivers, and provides free comprehensive patient education through its Patient Resource Guides for Liver Cancer. The organization runs several programs, including HCC Lunch & Learn, Love Your Liver, The Truth About Liver Cancer, and You and Liver Cancer.

This event matters because liver cancer often develops silently, and many people are diagnosed at advanced stages when treatment options are limited. By bringing expert-led education directly to the community, Blue Faery empowers individuals to recognize risks, seek timely screening, and access support. For Texas and beyond, such initiatives highlight the growing role of patient advocacy organizations in bridging gaps in cancer care and improving public health outcomes. As liver disease rates rise, community-based education like this can lead to earlier detection and better survival, making it a model for other regions.
