U.S. Term Limits Names David Hann as Minnesota State Co-Chair

U.S. Term Limits announced on September 23, 2026, that former Minnesota Senate Minority Leader David Hann has agreed to serve as Minnesota State Co-Chair for the organization. Hann’s appointment signals a renewed push in Minnesota for a constitutional amendment to impose term limits on members of Congress, a reform that proponents argue would enhance accountability and encourage citizen legislators.

Hann brings extensive public service, legislative leadership, business experience, and involvement in Minnesota government to the role. A former four-term Minnesota state senator and Senate Minority Leader, he believes congressional term limits can help restore accountability and citizen leadership in Washington. “I am honored to serve as Minnesota State Co-Chair for U.S. Term Limits and help advance the effort for congressional term limits,” Hann said. “Public office should fundamentally be about service. Our system of government works best when elected officials remember that they are accountable to the citizens they represent.”

Hann’s background includes three terms on the Eden Prairie School Board before his election to the Minnesota State Senate, where he served four terms. He sat on the Education, Judiciary, and Finance committees and chaired the Health and Human Services Committee. In his final term, colleagues elected him Minority Leader, and he led the Republican Caucus to the majority in the 2016 election. After leaving the legislature, he served three years as executive director of the Minnesota Association of Townships, resigning at the end of 2020. He was subsequently elected twice as chairman of the Minnesota Republican Party, serving through the end of 2025.
