Picky Global, the South Korean company behind PICKYPIC compact photobooths, has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its latest product, Receipt Photobooth, a 12-inch-tall device that prints black-and-white photos on ordinary thermal receipt paper in about one second. The campaign, which went live on September 22, 2026, introduces a new format designed for spaces where traditional floor-standing photobooths cannot fit, such as cafes, retail stores, pop-up shops, and event venues.
Unlike conventional photobooths that require dedicated floor space and dye-sublimation ink, Receipt Photobooth sits on a countertop, shelf, or table and uses commonly available thermal receipt paper. A single roll produces approximately 500 prints, and the system requires no ink cartridges. Each print includes a QR code that guests can scan to download the original full-color digital image directly to their smartphone, combining a physical keepsake with a digital file ready to save or share. The booth comes in two models: the acrylic Urban model, measuring 190 × 230 × 316 mm and available in five colors, and the wooden Modern model, measuring 290 × 290 × 310 mm. Both weigh approximately 5 kg and require only a power outlet and Wi-Fi connection for setup.
For Texas businesses, the implications are significant. The compact footprint allows the booth to function as part of the interior rather than requiring a dedicated photo booth area, turning small, previously unused spaces into photo experiences. This could be particularly valuable for the state's bustling cafe culture, retail shops, and event venues looking to enhance customer engagement without sacrificing valuable floor space. The booth also includes software features built for brands, retailers, and event operators. It ships with 20 default frame templates and supports custom frames featuring a brand's logo, artwork, or event design. Operators can add printed messages such as daily fortunes, promotions, or event copy, and guests can personalize their photos with simple drawings or stickers after shooting. An optional survey can be added to the shooting flow, giving businesses a simple way to collect customer feedback and engagement data. Together, these features make the booth a customer engagement tool rather than just a camera and a printer.
Picky Global is not entering the photobooth market for the first time through Kickstarter. The company has been designing, manufacturing, and operating photobooths in South Korea for three years, with more than 200 PICKYPIC booths currently operating across cafes, retail stores, bars, and event spaces nationwide. It has also exported its photobooth products to 11 international markets, including the United States, Canada, France, Denmark, Luxembourg, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Qatar, and Kuwait. Receipt Photobooth was developed on top of that operating experience, with the company redesigning the internal structure, power system, and software for a compact format and international use.
"Traditional photobooths require businesses to dedicate a significant amount of floor space to the experience," said Young Roung Lee, CEO of Picky Global. "We wanted to create something that could turn a small, previously unused space into a photo experience — whether that's a cafe counter, a retail shelf, a pop-up store, or an event table." The global Kickstarter campaign features both the acrylic Urban model and the wooden Modern model, with limited Launch Day rewards available to early backers.
