Single Social Club Debuts Activity-First Platform to Combat Dating-App Burnout, Starting in Tampa Bay

Dating-app burnout has become a common complaint among singles, but a new Tampa Bay-based platform is offering a different approach: stop swiping and start living. Single Social Club, a web app launching this month, connects verified singles through shared activities rather than traditional profile browsing. Founded by professional matchmaker Felicity G. Morgan and technology lead Greg Miceli, the platform removes swiping entirely and instead asks members to choose from over 157 activity options, from kayaking and pickleball to dining and trivia.

Members indicate their availability, travel range, and preferred age ranges, and the technology identifies overlapping interests and schedules. "If you're free Saturday from two to seven and somebody else is free from three to six, we don't need six text messages asking, 'What time works for you?'" Morgan said. "We already have the overlap. Now let's find the other people who wanted to do the same thing." When compatible participation exists, the platform forms small groups of approximately six to eight people.

The club also uses code names like Bee, Fox, or Moon during activities, allowing participants to interact without immediately sharing personal contact information. A verification process is required before participation, with privacy and safety as core considerations. "We wanted people to have some breathing room," Morgan said. "You don't need to know someone's entire dating résumé before you've even bowled a frame with them."

This launch matters for Texas businesses and entrepreneurs because it signals a growing market for experience-based social platforms that could expand beyond Florida. As dating-app fatigue increases, similar models may emerge in Texas cities, creating opportunities for activity-based venues such as bowling alleys, kayak rental companies, and restaurants to partner with platforms that drive group bookings. The focus on small-group, real-world interactions also aligns with a broader shift away from screen time and toward local spending on entertainment and dining.

Morgan, who also founded Assured Matchmaking, sees the platform as a response to what she heard from clients. "I kept hearing the same thing," she said. "'I'm taking a break from dating. I'm focusing on myself. I'm tired of the apps.' And I thought, okay. Focus on yourself. But why should focusing on yourself mean sitting at home?" The platform is designed for people coming out of breakups, newly divorced parents, professionals with busy friends, and anyone who simply wants to try new things without the pressure of a first-date interview.

Single Social Club is not a dating app, but it does allow for romance to develop naturally. After an activity, members can privately indicate if someone stood out. If two people express mutual interest, the platform can recognize the connection, and Assured Matchmaking can optionally provide support. There is no public rejection board or popularity counter.

The platform launches with introductory access for $1 for the first 30 days. After that, membership renews at $20 per month for the Basic plan, which includes up to five activity opportunities monthly; activity, venue, food, ticket, and transportation costs are separate. The web app can be accessed at Single Social Club, and mobile users can save it to their home screen. For more information on professional matchmaking, visit Assured Matchmaking.

The initial focus is Tampa Bay, but the founders plan to expand as interest grows. "We're starting at home," Morgan said. "I want to see Tampa Bay get out of the house. I want to see people trying things, meeting people and actually enjoying being single while they're single. Then we'll see where the community takes us." As the platform looks to new markets, Texas could be a prime candidate for expansion, given its large single population and vibrant activity scenes in cities like Austin, Dallas, and Houston.
