Independent travel advisors in Texas and across the country have a new option for building their businesses. OLA Vacations, a Fort Lauderdale-based online travel agency, has launched the OLA Host Network (OHN), a host agency program designed to give advisors stronger economics, modern technology, and the support they need to grow. The program distinguishes itself with a straightforward model: a $99 annual membership, a $15 per booking fee, and the opportunity for qualified advisors to earn up to 100% of their commission.
"Travel advisors work incredibly hard to build their businesses and earn their commissions. We wanted to create a model that allows them to keep more of what they earn while also giving them the technology, products and support they need to grow," said Anthony Hamawy, CEO of OLA Vacations and a longtime travel industry executive. The announcement signals a potential shift in how host agencies compete for experienced advisors, particularly as economic pressures and technological change reshape the travel industry.
OHN was developed by a team with over 100 years of combined travel industry experience, bringing together traditional travel expertise with OLA's growing investment in technology and artificial intelligence. Members also receive access to OLA's proprietary technology, AI-powered tools, supplier relationships, training, and seven-day support. The network is initially focused on experienced travel advisors and is designed to evolve alongside their businesses. OLA plans to continue expanding OHN with additional AI capabilities, marketing resources, travel products, and advisor tools.
"Technology and AI are going to change many aspects of how travel is researched, marketed and sold, but I believe the travel advisor will remain a critical part of this industry," said Hamawy. "Our goal is to combine the best of both worlds — the knowledge and relationships of experienced travel professionals with the technology & economics that can help independent advisors compete and grow."
The launch matters for Texas, which has a large and growing community of independent travel advisors and home-based agencies. By lowering the cost of affiliation and increasing commission potential, OHN could make it easier for advisors to start or scale their businesses without sacrificing support or technology. That, in turn, could keep more travel spending within local economies and strengthen the state's small-business travel sector.
For the broader travel industry, the move adds competitive pressure on traditional host agencies, many of which charge higher fees or take a larger share of commissions. If OHN gains traction, it could push other hosts to revise their pricing and technology offerings, ultimately benefiting advisors nationwide. The program also underscores a larger trend: as artificial intelligence automates research and marketing, the value of human expertise and relationships may become even more important, not less.
