Magnolia Author Tom Banwart Releases 'The Grace of God'

Tom Banwart, a Magnolia, Texas resident, has announced the release of his new book, "The Grace of God," a collection of stories that reveal how ordinary people can become the hands and feet of Christ through simple acts of love, prayer, and obedience. The book, published by Clay Bridges Press, a Houston-area hybrid publisher, is part memoir, part devotional reflection, and part testimony to God's faithfulness.

Banwart's journey to authorship began during the uncertain and isolating season of 2020, when fear and uncertainty swept across communities across America. Confronting the same fears experienced by millions, Banwart and his family found that simple acts of kindness quickly grew into opportunities for ministry. They shared Christian music with neighbors, wrote handwritten notes to healthcare workers and elderly shut-ins, and addressed physical needs within their community. Through these acts, Banwart discovered a profound truth: "Love is an action. Anyone can be the hands and feet of our Lord."

The book emphasizes the power of prayer and the undeniable evidence of God's presence and provision. Banwart hopes these stories encourage readers to persistently seek God through prayer, as his family witnessed again and again that His grace is unending.

Banwart never intended to become an author. Writing initially served as a way to process his thoughts and emotions during difficult seasons. As a teenager, he wrote poetry and songs, and later wrote software manuals and spiritual retreat guides. However, it was the encouragement of his sister, who had always been brutally honest about his work, that helped him believe God had something bigger in mind. His writing is inspired by God and by Khalil Gibran, whose work is simple yet profound.

Banwart's writing process is honest and humble. When facing writer's block, he stops trying, prays, and waits for the words to come, often feeling inspired by the Holy Spirit. The core message of "The Grace of God" is trust. Banwart wants readers to know that God is present no matter what desert they find themselves in. "Sometimes God allows us to walk through deserts because He is removing the things standing between us and a deeper relationship with Him," he says.

Banwart's life has been marked by pain, reconciliation, and grace. After spending much of his life in northern Illinois and graduating summa cum laude from Trinity International University, a promising corporate career was interrupted by chronic health issues resulting in permanent long-term disability. Rather than surrendering to disappointment, he embraced new opportunities, transforming a woodworking hobby into a small business and becoming a stay-at-home father to his three sons.

The events of 2020 led him to fully lean into his calling, and his journal entries evolved into his first published work. Today, Banwart continues to encourage others through creativity and vulnerability, often finding inspiration on his lanai, surrounded by nature, which he describes as a wonderful place to pray and listen for God.
