Glen Rose to Host Fourth of July Fireworks and Reckless Kelly Concert, Boosting Summer Tourism

Glen Rose, Texas, known as the 'Dinosaur Capital of Texas,' is set to host two major summer events this July: a hometown Fourth of July festival on July 4, 2026, and a concert by Texas country band Reckless Kelly at the newly renovated Texas Amphitheater on July 18. These consecutive celebrations are expected to attract visitors from across the state, boosting local tourism and providing a significant economic impact to the region.

The Fourth of July festivities will kick off with a pancake breakfast at the Senior Citizen Center at 8:00 AM, followed by a Hometown Independence Day Parade around the historic downtown square at 10:00 AM. From noon to 2:00 PM, families can enjoy live music, hot dog eating contests, and giveaways at Dinosaur World, which features hundreds of life-sized dinosaur exhibits. A ceremony will take place at the Creation Evidence Museum at 2:00 PM, and the evening will culminate with fireworks and free live music by the Brady Hulsey Band at Wheeler Branch Park, hosted by the Somervell County Water District.

On July 18, the Texas Amphitheater, a historic open-air venue recently acquired by the MSAS family and fully remodeled with state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, will host Reckless Kelly live. The concert runs from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with tickets starting at $55 available on Eventbrite. The venue's signature water moat offers a unique concert experience under the Texas stars.

Traci Niedziela, Tourism Director for Explore Glen Rose, emphasized the importance of these events: 'July is the perfect time to discover everything Glen Rose has to offer. Whether you're celebrating Independence Day with fireworks and live music or enjoying a world-class country concert at our beautifully renovated amphitheater, we invite visitors to make it a weekend getaway and explore why we're known as the Dinosaur Capital of Texas.'

Beyond the events, Glen Rose offers a range of outdoor adventures and family attractions. Visitors can explore real dinosaur tracks at Dinosaur Valley State Park, feed giraffes at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, or enjoy the Paluxy River Walk and Big Rocks Park. The town features 98 custom-painted dinosaurs, and the free Glen Rose Dinosaur Pass scavenger hunt, available on the Bandwango app, guides explorers to 35 of these dinosaurs. Completing all 35 stops earns one free entry pass to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center.

Accommodations range from luxurious boutique hotels and charming inns to affordable motels, B&Bs, riverside cabins, and vacation getaways, making it easy for families to plan an overnight stay. The economic impact of these summer events is significant, as they draw visitors who spend on lodging, dining, and local attractions, supporting small businesses in the historic downtown square. Glen Rose, located approximately 75 miles southwest of Dallas-Fort Worth and 90 miles north of Austin, offers an authentic Texas Hill Country getaway, blending natural wonder, outdoor adventure, and small-town hospitality.
