American Fusion Inc. (OTC: AMFN), an advanced energy platform company, is developing its proprietary Texatron™ Fusion Engine™, a neutronic fusion platform designed for modular, infrastructure-grade deployment across industrial, commercial, and grid-constrained applications. In a recent AGORACOM interview, Executive Chairman Brent Nelson discussed the company's strategy for addressing growing electricity demand from artificial intelligence, data centers, and other power-intensive applications.
Nelson highlighted the company's 5 MW preproduction Texatron™ and plans for 10 MW and 20 MW systems. The company has received Texas authorization to test 12 planned system sizes ranging from approximately 500 kW to 1 GW, though the ratings are intended system sizes and not demonstrated electrical output. American Fusion is targeting documented test results demonstrating the Texatron™ can generate and capture sufficient energy for conversion into usable electricity, with management targeting unity or beyond unity by year-end 2026, subject to testing progress and continued facility access.
If testing is successful, the company is targeting deployment of a test unit and potential commercial production and electricity sales in 2027. The business model focuses on placing systems at customer sites and selling generated electricity through power purchase agreements. The company emphasized that testing has not yet demonstrated unity, usable electricity, or commercial operation.
This development matters because the rapid expansion of AI and data centers is straining power grids, and fusion energy could provide a scalable, clean solution. Texas, with its growing tech and energy sectors, is a key battleground for such innovations. The authorization to test multiple system sizes in Texas signals regulatory openness to advanced energy technologies, which could attract further investment and talent to the state. For readers and industry stakeholders, American Fusion's progress could impact energy costs, reliability, and sustainability, especially for power-intensive operations.
