Total Wireless has announced an expanded partnership with Western Union, bringing a suite of financial services to its retail footprint nationwide. Starting in select stores and expanding through the end of 2026, customers can now access money transfers, bill pay, and money orders at participating Total Wireless locations. This move underscores Total Wireless's commitment to providing value beyond connectivity, positioning its stores as community hubs for essential financial services.
The expansion builds on Total Wireless's June launch as the first U.S. wireless carrier to offer monthly money transfers at no additional cost. Eligible customers on MAX 5G BYO, MAX 5G, and ALL ACCESS plans continue to receive one fee-free Western Union money transfer each month, redeemable online, via the Western Union app, or in participating stores. This benefit is part of the brand's broader effort to deliver meaningful value to its customers.
David Kim, President of Verizon Value, emphasized the community-centric nature of this initiative. "Our stores are gathering places in the communities we serve," he said. "By adding Western Union to the retail experience, we're expanding access to everyday financial services for everyone. Whether customers need to send money, pay bills, or purchase money orders, they can now do it at Total Wireless, right alongside getting the reliable 5G connectivity they count on. That's what it means to put community first."
The services are available to all customers at standard Western Union rates, with no requirement to be a Total Wireless customer to use them. This broad accessibility aims to meet customers where they already shop, enhancing convenience and financial inclusion. Western Union's global reach, spanning more than 200 countries and territories with over 360,000 payout locations, ensures that these services are backed by a trusted and extensive network.
Jesse Mory, Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Western Union, highlighted the significance of the partnership. "Millions of customers rely on Western Union to move money across borders with speed and confidence," he said. "By bringing our services to Total Wireless stores, we're meeting more customers where they already shop and expanding access to reliable, convenient financial services. This partnership strengthens our presence in communities where our customers live and work."
The economic impact of this expansion is notable. Total Wireless, with its 2,000 exclusive stores across the country, becomes a new access point for financial services in areas that may lack traditional banking infrastructure. This can help underbanked populations manage their finances more easily, potentially reducing the cost and time associated with money transfers and bill payments. For Texas, a state with diverse and growing communities, this could be particularly beneficial, offering residents more options for financial transactions without needing to travel far.
For more information, visit a local Total Wireless store or check the Western Union benefit page. The fee-free transfer benefit is valid once per month for eligible plan customers and applies to the transfer fee only; exchange rates and taxes may apply.
This partnership reflects a broader trend of non-traditional businesses expanding into financial services, providing convenience and accessibility. As Total Wireless continues to grow, its integration of Western Union services could set a precedent for other wireless providers, ultimately benefiting consumers across the nation.
