SunKnowledge Services Inc., a healthcare revenue cycle management company specializing in durable medical equipment (DME) billing, is expanding its recently announced cost-savings initiative to cover the entire revenue cycle. The move follows the company's introduction of a 20% discount on DME billing services, which was designed to help suppliers reduce billing costs while retaining access to specialized support. Now, SunKnowledge is emphasizing that meaningful savings are not limited to claim processing fees, but can be found across multiple functions, including insurance verification, prior authorization, documentation review, claim submission, denial management, payment posting, and accounts receivable (A/R) follow-up.
The expansion comes as DME suppliers face increasing administrative complexity. Before equipment is even delivered, suppliers must verify coverage, determine authorization requirements, and ensure documentation supports the order. Missing or inaccurate information at these early stages can lead to delayed claims, additional staff work, denials, and extended A/R. SunKnowledge's DME billing support now spans the entire revenue cycle, from order intake and eligibility verification to denial management and A/R follow-up. The goal is to identify and address reimbursement barriers earlier, rather than relying solely on back-end collection efforts after problems arise.
The company argues that reducing billing expenses alone provides limited value if internal teams continue spending significant time resolving documentation gaps, checking authorization status, correcting claims, or following up on aging receivables. By connecting cost savings with revenue cycle efficiency, SunKnowledge aims to help suppliers control administrative costs while keeping reimbursement processes moving smoothly. "For DME suppliers, cost efficiency should not stop with the price of processing a claim," said Ronnie Hastings, spokesperson for SunKnowledge. "The larger opportunity is to identify where administrative work, delays, and reimbursement challenges are occurring throughout the revenue cycle. Our focus is on helping suppliers manage those processes while keeping operating costs under control."
Staffing is another significant expense for DME organizations that handle revenue cycle operations internally. As claim volumes increase, suppliers may need additional resources for eligibility checks, prior authorization, documentation follow-up, denial management, and outstanding A/R. Recruiting, training, and retaining specialized billing personnel can add direct costs and management responsibilities. SunKnowledge offers an alternative model where specialized revenue cycle resources function as an extension of the supplier's existing operations. This allows suppliers to access additional billing capacity without building equivalent infrastructure internally, helping them scale support according to operational needs while allowing internal teams to focus on patient service and equipment fulfillment.
The expanded initiative is positioned around two related objectives: controlling the cost of revenue cycle operations and helping DME providers protect the reimbursement they have earned. For suppliers managing increasing administrative complexity, SunKnowledge's initiative provides an opportunity to reassess where resources are being spent and where specialized support may improve workflow efficiency. By addressing the entire revenue cycle as a connected workflow, SunKnowledge aims to help DME suppliers reduce costs and improve reimbursement outcomes.
