Sinsungo Inc., a refrigeration and freezing technology startup, announced it will launch a global Kickstarter campaign in October for GLEA, a premium foldable cooler powered by advanced vacuum-insulation technology. The campaign is scheduled to launch October 15, 2026, with exclusive early-bird discounts for backers, and the company plans to focus its initial outreach on the U.S. market.
The announcement matters because it moves vacuum insulation, a technology long confined to refrigerators, freezers and industrial cold-chain boxes, into a consumer product. Traditional Vacuum Insulation Panels deliver exceptional cold retention but are notoriously difficult to bend or fold. Sinsungo redesigned the system into what it calls a Foldable Vacuum Insulation structure that bends up to 180 degrees and is applied across all six sides of the cooler. The result is up to 48 hours of cold retention, according to the company.
GLEA was developed to bridge the gap between the high-performance cold retention of hard coolers and the portable, space-saving convenience of soft coolers. When in use, it provides ample storage capacity; when folded, it measures approximately 2 inches (5 cm) thick, allowing for easy storage in tight spaces such as car trunks or home closets. Despite its insulation capabilities, the cooler weighs just 2.4 kg (5.3 lbs) and comes equipped with a handle and strap for comfortable transport. Unlike conventional hard coolers that take up substantial space even when empty, GLEA expands when needed and folds flat when the job is done.
The product is built for a wide range of uses requiring long-lasting temperature control, from long-distance road trips, camping and picnics to bulk grocery shopping and frozen-food transport. It features water-resistant and hygienic construction, with a water-repellent exterior coating to resist moisture and stains and a water-resistant interior lining designed to handle melting ice and liquid spills. The surface can be wiped clean with a soft cloth after use. GLEA will be offered in three capacities, 8 L, 27 L and 33 L, to suit needs ranging from daily grocery runs to outdoor adventures.
For Texas, the implications extend beyond outdoor recreation. The state's sprawling geography makes long-distance travel and grocery transport routine, and a cooler that holds temperature for up to 48 hours while folding flat could appeal to families, campers and businesses moving perishable goods. The cold-chain sector, which includes food distribution and pharmaceutical logistics, is a significant economic driver across Texas, and Sinsungo frames GLEA as a step toward broader portable cold-chain applications.
"GLEA represents a fresh interpretation of vacuum-insulation technologies traditionally used in refrigeration, freezing, and cold-chain applications, bringing that same performance into everyday life with enhanced convenience," said a Sinsungo representative. "Through this Kickstarter campaign, we look forward to validating the potential of our FVI technology with global backers and expanding its use across a broader lineup of portable cold-chain products."
Backers can follow the campaign through the GLEA Kickstarter page. For Texas entrepreneurs and manufacturers, the launch also illustrates how a startup can commercialize a niche industrial technology by adapting it for consumer markets, a path that could influence how cold-chain and outdoor product companies in the state approach product development.
