Seattle Church Hosts National Night Out to Combat Crime and Drug Abuse

The Church of Scientology in Seattle recently hosted its annual National Night Out celebration, an event designed to heighten crime prevention awareness and foster stronger community ties. The gathering, which took place in the city's neighborhood, aimed to unite residents with local law enforcement and anti-crime initiatives, emphasizing the critical link between drug abuse and criminal activity.

As part of the event, the Church distributed educational materials from the Truth About Drugs campaign, a global initiative that provides factual, youth-friendly information about the dangers of substance abuse. The campaign has been particularly active in the Seattle area, with more than 150,000 Truth About Drugs booklets distributed during the recent FIFA games. The materials cover a range of substances, including fentanyl, marijuana, crystal meth, heroin, and synthetic drugs, equipping young people with the knowledge to make informed decisions and stay drug-free.

Rev. Ann Pearce, Director of Public Affairs for Seattle's Church of Scientology, highlighted the importance of the event in strengthening community bonds. "Hosting this annual event is a wonderful way to meet new neighbors, support anti-crime efforts, and work closely with local law enforcement to safeguard our community," she said.

The family-friendly celebration featured live music from the Viewpoints band, barbecue served from a unique antique 1924 Model-T Ford truck, hand-crafted ice cream, and entertainment for children, including a professional balloon twister. These activities helped create a festive atmosphere while reinforcing the event's serious message about safety and prevention.

The initiative is part of the Church's broader commitment to drug education and prevention, in partnership with the Foundation for a Drug-Free World.
