Rubean AG, a rapidly expanding fintech company based in Munich, Germany, announced that its software point-of-sale (SoftPOS) app is now active on over 150,000 terminals, nearly doubling from approximately 80,000 terminals in early July 2025. This milestone underscores the company’s projected revenue and earnings growth, as highlighted by Co-CEO Jochen Pielage.
The significant increase in user numbers supports Rubean’s recently published forecast, which projects consolidated revenue for the current year to reach between 5.0 million and 6.0 million euros, up from 3.71 million euros in the previous year. Recurring revenue is expected to more than double in 2026. Co-CEO Stephan Kuck emphasized that continued growth in SoftPOS app usage will enable the company to reach monthly breakeven in 2027 and achieve positive net income for the first time that year.
Rubean’s technology replaces traditional card readers with a software app, allowing retailers to accept payments directly on their smartphones without additional hardware. This approach reduces logistical overhead and enables small and large retailers, the food service industry, delivery services, and other commercial enterprises to accept cashless and mobile payments. Rubean is already a market leader in Germany and Spain.
The company’s PhonePOS solution is the only softPOS solution that supports girocard (EC card) in Germany and is used by payment service providers, major banks, retailers, and large retail chains throughout Europe. This growth reflects the increasing adoption of digital payment solutions and the shift away from traditional hardware-based systems, which has implications for the payments industry by lowering barriers to entry for merchants and accelerating the transition to cashless transactions.
