Next Generation Trust Company Partners with ETZ Soft to Enable Direct Cryptocurrency Investing via Self-Directed IRAs

Next Generation Trust Company, a full-service account administrator and asset custodian for self-directed IRAs (SDIRAs), has announced a strategic partnership with ETZ Soft, a third-party platform that enables clients to trade and invest directly in cryptocurrency. The partnership, announced by CEO Jaime Raskulinecz, aims to streamline crypto investing for self-directed retirement plan holders while maintaining compliance with IRS regulations.

ETZ Soft, powered by Coinbase Prime, provides institutional-grade custody and trading for digital assets. Through this collaboration, Next Generation clients can open a self-directed IRA, fund it, and then use the ETZ Soft mobile app to create an IRA subaccount. They can transfer funds from their SDIRA and start trading digital assets 24/7 within the app. The platform offers access to the top 50 cryptocurrencies as well as tokenized gold.

“At Next Generation, we are always looking for ways to improve our clients' investing experience and there are not many platforms with this kind of configuration,” said Raskulinecz. “I like the ease in which our self-directed investors can allocate a portion of their retirement plan's funds to trade directly on ETZ Soft.”

Self-directed IRAs allow a wide range of alternative assets, including real estate, private equity, and cryptocurrency. However, all income and expenses must flow through the IRA account to comply with IRS guidelines. With ETZ Soft, when a client wishes to trade crypto, funds move from their Next Generation IRA into the ETZ sub-account. Any cash distributions after selling an asset return to the self-directed IRA, ensuring full regulatory compliance.

Seth Bergida, Head of Client Success for ETZ Soft, noted the growing demand for crypto exposure among SDIRA investors. “Self-directed IRA clients are increasingly seeking exposure to the crypto market as part of a broader alternative asset strategy and SDIRA providers and custodians need a secure, compliant solution to offer crypto investing for their clients,” he said. “We are pleased to create this strategic partnership with Next Generation Trust Company to make it easier for their clients to invest in crypto without adding any complexity to Next Generation's operations.”

This partnership is significant for Texas investors and the broader financial industry as it bridges traditional retirement planning with the rapidly growing cryptocurrency market. By enabling direct crypto investing through self-directed IRAs, Next Generation and ETZ Soft provide a tax-advantaged way for individuals to diversify their retirement portfolios. For Texas, a state known for its business-friendly environment and growing crypto ecosystem, this development could encourage more residents to explore alternative assets for retirement. The move also highlights the increasing integration of digital assets into mainstream financial services, potentially influencing other custodians to offer similar solutions.
