Law Bear Injury Lawyers Elevates Client Intake with New Executive Appointment

Law Bear Injury Lawyers, a Phoenix-based law firm, has announced the appointment of Vanessa Soto as Vice President of Intake Operations, a newly created executive position that underscores the firm's commitment to treating client intake as a critical strategic function. Soto, who brings over 20 years of experience in high-volume personal injury intake, will oversee the systems, people, and technology that shape every client's first interaction with the firm.

The role is part of Law Bear's broader approach to client service, recognizing that the initial conversation between an injured person and a law firm can significantly influence the outcome of their case. Early communication can affect how quickly evidence is preserved, how injuries are documented, and whether clients feel supported during an unfamiliar legal process. By elevating intake to the executive level, Law Bear aims to ensure that every potential client receives a prompt, compassionate, and thorough response.

Vanessa Soto's career spans more than two decades in legal intake, operations, and client service. She previously held executive intake leadership at one of the nation's largest high-volume personal injury firms, where she advanced from Intake Coordinator to Intake Manager before overseeing complex operations. Throughout her career, she has personally handled hundreds of thousands of injury-related calls and designed departments dedicated to quality control, referral management, and client satisfaction. Her expertise also includes developing key performance indicator (KPI) frameworks, implementing intake technology, and providing consulting and training to personal injury firms nationwide.

At Law Bear, Soto is developing an intake model built around five core principles: hiring the right people, implementing effective technology, fostering a positive and accountable culture, encouraging blameless problem-solving, and using analytics to continuously improve performance. This model aims to create consistent, high-quality experiences for every prospective client, regardless of when or how they reach out.

“Intake is the most critical department in a law firm—not entry-level work, but the front line of client experience,” said Soto. “Every call is someone on the hardest day of their life. My job is to make sure that in that first conversation, they feel heard, they get straight answers, and nothing gets dropped.”

President Sean Schmitt emphasized that the firm's decision to make intake an executive leadership role reflects its broader philosophy about serving injured clients. “Most firms bolt intake onto the side of the business and then wonder why clients feel like a number,” Schmitt said. “We made it a leadership seat because the first ten minutes a client spends with us sets the tone for everything after. Putting someone with Vanessa's track record there says exactly how seriously we take it.”

Earlier this year, Law Bear Injury Lawyers received approval to operate under Arizona's Alternative Business Structure program, which allows qualified law firms to adopt innovative regulatory frameworks while remaining subject to oversight by the Arizona Supreme Court. This approval, combined with the new executive intake position, reflects the firm's commitment to combining legal representation with operational excellence to create a more responsive and client-centered experience.

This appointment highlights a growing trend in the legal industry where client intake is recognized as a pivotal factor in client satisfaction and case outcomes. By investing in executive leadership for intake, Law Bear is setting a precedent that may influence other firms to prioritize this critical function, ultimately benefiting consumers seeking legal help after accidents.
