A new partnership between isolved and Remote is giving small and midsized businesses access to enterprise-grade global hiring, payroll, and compliance infrastructure across 192 countries. The collaboration, detailed in a recent episode of the podcast You Should Know hosted by William Tincup of WRKdefined, brings together isolved's human capital management platform with Remote's global employment technology.
Barry Gauch, Executive Vice President at isolved, and Pim Altena, GM for Remote Embedded and VP of Partnerships at Remote, explained how the embedded partnership eliminates the legal and compliance hurdles that have traditionally prevented SMBs from hiring internationally. The integration allows SMBs to leverage three hiring models through a single platform: Employer of Record for fast market entry, contractor management for flexible engagements, and global payroll for businesses with existing international teams.
Gauch noted that customer demand for cross-border hiring drove isolved to seek a partner rather than build its own solution. "Our customer demand for global hiring had picked up," he said, adding that "it's not our key competency, but we know we needed to deliver it." isolved conducted a formal RFP process, narrowing ten providers to five before selecting Remote based on its API-first model and ability to serve the mid-market.
Altena emphasized the importance of removing constraints on talent acquisition. "You're hiring people for skills, right? Like, that's what you should do, but you're actually constraining yourself often unconsciously by just the compliance capabilities, the legal entity footprint that you already have as a business," he said. The partnership addresses the complexity of international payroll, which varies across federal, state, and municipal levels in each of the 192 countries recognized by the U.S. State Department.
The collaboration also integrates with ApplicantPro, now part of isolved, to streamline talent acquisition and staffing workflows. Gauch highlighted that affordability and white-glove customer service were non-negotiable criteria in the partnership, ensuring SMBs receive the same level of support as larger enterprises.
For Texas businesses, the partnership offers a pathway to tap into global talent pools without the expense of establishing foreign legal entities. As skill-based hiring accelerates, companies can now compete for specialized talent worldwide, potentially reshaping workforce strategies across industries.
