FleetCollect Launches AI Connector for Truckers to Query IFTA, DOT, and Carrier Data

FleetCollect, a trucking compliance software platform serving owner-operators and small fleets across all 50 states, has launched an AI connector that allows customers to interact with their fleet data using natural language. The connector, built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), enables users to ask AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT about IFTA fuel tax, DOT compliance, and carrier information directly, eliminating the need to manually sift through spreadsheets and reports.

For most small carriers, critical operational answers are scattered across quarterly IFTA reports, driver files, dispatch logs, and federal databases. The new connector simplifies this by letting operators connect their FleetCollect account to an AI assistant once, then ask questions such as "What were my IFTA miles by state for the last quarter?" or "Which of my drivers have documents expiring in the next 30 days?" The AI provides direct, plain-language answers drawn from the user's own data.

Beyond a carrier's own records, the connector can vet any motor carrier by USDOT or MC number using live Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) data. This allows brokers and dispatchers to check a partner's operating authority, insurance, and safety information without leaving the conversation, enhancing due diligence and efficiency.

Security and privacy are paramount. All 14 tools in the connector are read-only, meaning the AI can look up and summarize information but cannot modify, delete, or order anything. Driver personally identifiable information (PII), including emails, phone numbers, and license numbers, is filtered out and never returned. Each request is scoped to the authenticated account, ensuring users only see their own data. The connector uses OAuth 2.1 with Dynamic Client Registration and PKCE, aligning with modern authentication standards, and users can revoke access at any time.

"Owner-operators didn't get into trucking to click through dashboards," said Herman Armstrong, founder of FleetCollect. "We built this so a driver can just ask — 'what do I owe in IFTA,' 'which of my guys is about to expire,' 'is this carrier legit' — and get a straight answer from their own numbers. We made it read-only and privacy-filtered on purpose: it answers questions, it doesn't touch your data."

The connector is available to customers with an active FleetCollect subscription and is being submitted to the Claude connector directory and the ChatGPT app directory.
