BOXABL Inc. (NASDAQ: BXBL), a factory-built construction company known for its affordable housing solutions, has unveiled a new concept that could extend its innovative approach to the data center industry. The company recently introduced its Server Pod concept, a design study for modular, factory-assembled enclosures intended to house AI and cloud computing infrastructure. While the Server Pod is currently only a concept and not yet in production, BOXABL is actively inviting data center developers, operators, and equipment vendors to explore custom design and manufacturing partnerships.
The Server Pod concept comes at a time when the data center sector is experiencing explosive growth. Citing JLL’s 2026 Global Data Center Market Outlook, BOXABL noted that the industry is expected to grow at a 14% compound annual growth rate through 2030, with roughly 100 GW of new capacity coming online from 2026 through 2030. This expansion could require up to $3 trillion in total investment. However, the industry faces significant challenges, including high construction costs, lengthy build times, and a shortage of skilled labor. BOXABL believes that its factory-built, repeatable structures could offer a solution to these pressing issues.
“We see a tremendous opportunity to apply our manufacturing expertise to the data center market,” said a BOXABL spokesperson. “Our approach can help accelerate deployment timelines and reduce costs, which are critical factors in meeting the growing demand for AI and cloud computing infrastructure.” The company’s concept configurations range from a 10-foot Server Pod, envisioned at a 0.5 petaflop tier, to the 2,500-square-foot Server Tron, which could deliver 16 petaflops of operations per second. Actual configurations, engineering, cooling approaches, and equipment will be determined in collaboration with customers.
BOXABL’s foray into data center infrastructure builds on its established expertise in modular construction. Since its inception in 2017, the North Las Vegas-based company has raised over $230 million from more than 50,000 investors. Its flagship product, the Casita, is a 361-square-foot studio unit that unfolds on-site in under an hour, and the company is also developing stackable and connectable modules for larger residential projects. The company began trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the ticker symbol “BXBL” on July 20, 2026, following its business combination with FG Merger II Corp.
By leveraging its factory-based manufacturing capabilities, BOXABL aims to address the data center industry’s need for speed, cost efficiency, and labor optimization. The company is seeking engagement with data center developers, hyperscalers, colocation providers, and equipment manufacturers. However, BOXABL emphasized that there is no assurance any agreements will be reached or that any Server Pod or similar product will be built. The initiative is intended to demonstrate the company’s factory capabilities and open the door for potential partnerships.
The potential impact of this concept is significant. If successful, modular data centers could reduce construction timelines from years to months, lower costs, and help bridge the labor gap. This could accelerate the deployment of AI and cloud computing infrastructure, enabling faster adoption of emerging technologies across industries. For Texas, a state with a booming tech sector, this development could mean new opportunities for local data center projects and economic growth.
