BHS, Inc. Introduces Modular Order Picker Attachments to Boost Warehouse Efficiency

BHS, Inc., a St. Louis-based manufacturer of custom material handling equipment, has announced the release of a new line of modular attachments for order picker trucks. The attachments, which include four product series, are designed to optimize picking tasks in narrow-aisle warehouses, a growing segment of the logistics industry. The new offerings aim to improve safety, productivity, and flexibility for warehouse operators.

The four product series are Modular Order Picker Carts, Modular Order Picker Platforms, Order Picker Furniture Carts, and Order Picker Furniture Platforms. The carts feature heavy-duty casters, allowing them to double as pushcarts for ground-level inventory management, while the platforms omit the casters to function solely as attachments for order picker trucks. The furniture-specific variants are sized to fit the longer forks of furniture order picker trucks.

Trent Boothe, Technical Sales Manager at BHS, emphasized the importance of these attachments in the context of industry trends. "With the growth in narrow-aisle racking, more warehouses are relying on order picker trucks," Boothe said. "Our goal is to make those trucks safer, more productive, and flexible enough to handle anything."

A key feature of the BHS solutions is their custom sizing, which ensures no gaps or offsets between the platform and the truck's operator deck. This design innovation eliminates tripping hazards, a common safety risk associated with order picker truck attachments. The modularity of the carts and platforms allows users to adjust shelf spacing, remove shelves entirely, or add rails and guarding to create the ideal work platform. These bolt-on components can be easily attached or removed with standard workplace tools.

The modular design offers a significant advantage over traditional custom equipment: faster delivery. "We specialize in designing custom equipment, but it takes time to design something from scratch," Boothe explained. "Our modular solutions ship a lot faster than an all-original product. They give you custom performance without custom lead times."

This announcement is particularly important for Texas-based warehouses and distribution centers, where narrow-aisle racking is becoming more prevalent to maximize storage space. The ability to quickly adapt order picker trucks for different tasks without long lead times can help Texas businesses improve efficiency and respond to changing demands. Additionally, the enhanced safety features reduce the risk of workplace injuries, which can lower costs and improve employee morale.
